Pet of the Week: Operation Freedom Paws by Larry J. Mickartz
Recently we received an interesting email. Our photogenic puppy, Charlie, had been selected “Puppy of the Week” at Operation Freedom Paws (OFP). Charlie is a character and is quite lovable, but this was unexpected. We also received a bumper sticker announcing that he was “Puppy of the Week” at OFP. Charlie had been on the cover and was a lead story in the July 2017 issue of gmhTODAY.
Operation Freedom Paws is a great organization and we wholeheartedly support them. This non-profit founded in 2010 has a main mission to train service dogs for veterans and individuals with disabilities. This mission got them some national attention in 2016 when Mary Cortani, the founder, was selected a finalist in the CNN Hero’s program. Locally her work was also honored as a Central Coast Jefferson Award’s recipient.
In addition to training dogs and veterans or people with disabilities, OFP also offers general obedience classes and operates a full kennel and boarding service. If you need training or a spot for a favored canine, contact Operation Freedom Paws. They are located in San Martin at 13920 Llagas Avenue or call 408 683 9010.
